As you have probably already noticed, the economy has been in the toilet ever since the end of 2008 came to a near end. Some might argue the reason for this is because of our new president and you’d be surprised that you are actually incorrect.
Fact 1: Obama became president after the economy started plummeting and showing signs of weakness.
Fact 2: When Bush was still president, his advisor’s had warned him that the economy was showing signs of weakness and that a it could crash. However, nothing was done by Bush to help this from happening.
Fact 3: Bush pretty much left Obama to clean up his mess that has already been made.
Fact 4: Until the housing market gets back up to speed, we will be like this for a bit longer.
Fact 5: Investing in war with the Middle East like Bush did wasn’t smart and that money spending could have possibly affected our economy. Its not cheap to run a military.
Fact 6: The market goes up and it goes down so don’t expect the president to have complete utter control. You have to do your part as well America!
Fact 7: Lets not point fingers at certain people to blame for this because we are all part of this and we all need to work together as a country to get us back up to speed. Believing that a SINGLE person can do that on his own is just ridiculous.
Obama might have become president at a time where the economy wasn’t so great but that doesn’t mean he is to blame. One man can only do so much. Even if you don’t support our president, you should at least respect a man that has worked his way from having nothing to the life he has today. Stop saying you want to move to Canada or Mexico because your are not and yet no one stops you. Politics is a harsh topic and sometimes you just have to be more open minded and accept the things you might not agree with.

seriously people. And people really blame Obama for the economy? Wow…fortunately, I’ve never had to deal with anyone who is so ignorant. Now, I’ve heard people say he isn’t making it better but that’s not as bad. Either way, it isn’t his fault. Stuff happens.
nicely said.
Bush didn’t do such a hot job– we ALL agree on that. His leading us through the 9/11 crisis was fantastic, but his dealing with the economy.. well, it just didn’t do much.
But it’s ridiculous to believe that Obama is going to ride in on a white steed (that’s Joe Biden) and instantaneously rid the economy of troubles.
Now, about this stimulus… does anyone really and truly believe that it’s going to do anything? Because instead of stimulating the economy, people are tending to put that fat check in the bank.
Obama is not to blame, and neither is Bush.
) the stimulus package was not meant to stimulate the economy because it affects the wrong sections of the economy. It is a pet project bill written by the representatives in the house and will hardly stimulate anything practical. Next time the House should let top economists write the bill. And I think Bush did just fine so “all” is not correct.
A) it is not the presidents job to supervise the economy though tweaking it can help him get votes.
B) I’d like to point out that military spending helps the economy so fact 5 is kind of pointless.
C) Fact 3 is not a fact, especially since fact 7 excuses Bush and puts the blame on U.S. citizens.
D)in response to fall92(whoever that could be
You guys are giving great reaons and opinions. Keep it comin
I like our we are all opinionated in a similar way on this subject.
Yeah… *ahem*.. who could THAT be? I play Live with you waaay too much.
On A) Very true. The American people need to start spending, not shoving everything they get into their bank accounts.
On B) Yes.
On C) Yes.
On D) Since when do politicians EVER go to the experts for advice? XD And you believe he was a good president? I don’t know– I wasn’t a fan. He was republican though, so that’s good. Even though I like to consider myself a “Non-associated conservative.”
The economy was not plummeting in late 2008, jordan, it was actually the fourth quarter of 2007 that economists truly recognized a problem. i could go on for hours on pointing the blame. and it’s actually quite easy.
A)mortgage lenders
B)consumers.
I believe Bush had the right ideas. He just struggled on the methodology part. And sththunder’s(MHm?) list is not comprehensive enough.
A)mortgage lenders
B)consumers
C)banks
D)media
E)Politicians bringing to the forefront of the media which killed consumer spending.
PS: fall92 most republicans are as useless as their democrat counter parts the difference being democrats make the government bigger so there are even more useless bureaucrats.
aaaaaand THAT’S why I consider myself non-associated. Bush just had less potential to be useless. lol.
I was in a rush so I didn’t complete my list. But yes. World…dominator….there are many to blame, but neither Bush nor Obama should receive blame for something that Americans as a whole have continued to pile more crap on top of.
Really and truly, the president doesn’t have any control over the economy. Which is why when uneducated people say, “Oh, yeah. Obama/McCain is going to make the world all better. He’s going to completely, you know, make it easier to pay for stuff,” it makes me lol.
It’s the Obama ADMINISTRATION that matters, not the president himself.
That’s laughable. It’s the PEOPLE that matter. The administration sure has more control than Obama, but the economy can only change when the people come out of their shells.
You would hope the Obama administration is headed by Obama so what they do is his fault.Like when the government deficit spikes after his first term. Its not his administrations fault it is his fault, and congress’ obviously.
to WORLDDOMINATOR; i love how you are pointing your finger at Obama and you didn’t give one good reason why it is his fault so you have some material to back you up. haha
He’s not saying that anything happening NOW is his fault. He’s saying that if something DOES happen, blame is placed on Obama and not his admin.
So don’t be a douche about it. I thought this was a discussion site, not an “acting like a moron” site.
i love how people take it so seriously.
haha
Yes, it’s a serious discussion. So please try talking maturely, or don’t talk at all.
And don’t insult each other!
yeah fall92, that was kinda uncalled for.
As sorry as I am, I think the trend of Liberals insulting Conservatives as soon as they open their mouths without actually listening to what they’re saying is ridiculous.
So, yeah. It was pretty called for.
no, what is uncalled for is calling me a douche and taking it like i am insulting you when i am not.
*Yawn* Can we just cut this out?
what do you mean cut out?
Scott is bored by our feeble attempts at a debate.
Cut out all of this “douche” and “uncalled” for stuff. Either get back to the topic or I’ll happily close this topic.
Oops. Guess I’m logged in as admin, not Scott. Oh well.
haha its cool. so anyways, back on topic..
Yup.
Really, it all goes back to the people. If we don’t start coming out of our shells and spending instead of saving everything, the economy is only going to get worse.
yes, but if there is no money to spend..
is that supposed to matter? the economy was based on not actually having money to spend before….why change it again? we just need to start spending money we don’t have and if we all do it together, we’ll make our money back when our companies do better again.
obviously this won’t work, because we have absolutely no unity on this, and obviously this is a short term plan that would only work until we lose faith in the economy again, but it’s the only way to go without bringing the government into this.
